You may know that my husband travels a lot.Being the dutiful citizens that we are, we requested an absentee ballot (since he was gone for Super Tuesday), which he diligently completed and got in the mail on Regular Monday.
Allow me to repeat: My husband travels a lot.
So, really , it's his fault that I am guilty of perjury, which I am pretty sure is a felony.
Since he is gone and I am impatient, I typically just sign his name on everything. We joke that there are few of his actual signatures in existence. (This is especially true for the month that our home was in escrow this fall since he was out of town for 3 out of the 4 weeks--and you know how many signatures THAT involves.)
However, I totally draw the line at VOTING for him. I would NEVER complete his ballot and forge his name or anything like that. Come on, voter fraud is WAY out of my league. His absentee ballot was 100% genuine.
Apparently, his voter registration application was not. . . I'm pretty sure I signed that when I registered us in CA a few months ago. So, on Stupor Tuesday, I got a call from the Registrar of Voters, informing us that Dave's signature on his ballot did not match the signature on his application. His vote would not be counted unless he could drive down to the County Clerk's office that day and verify his signature OR go to our local polling place and vote provisionally.
If he was available to do those things, why would he have voted absentee?
While I am glad that there is some sobriety and care involved in the voting process, I wonder why his signature is such a big deal for proof of his identity. When I voted at our local polling place (which smelled of sewage BTW), I was not asked for a photo ID, a signature verification, a voter registration ID, a proof of residency, a local Utilities bill, a Costco card, or if anyone unknown to me had asked me to transport illegal items in my purse.
I could have voted as anyone I knew, as long as I knew their street address.
I better stop before I incriminate myself any further.
Oh yeah, and every vote does NOT always count.

Everything on your blog is so funny. I love all the quotes on the left and the post about the pillows. I can't believe the voting people CALLED you!! I would have been freaking out. Do you really think you will move again? {this is Brooke}
I sign Rich's name too. We must get this from years of practice signing mom's name for her credit card, checks, and notes excusing us from school at MV...these were all forged with permission of course.
Dont know much about the law, but I think what you gave was a type of confession?? What else you need to share sister?
