Most mornings, Michael wakes up bright and early (before 7 AM, when he is allowed to leave his room) and he sneaks into his closet and starts writing. Here are some choice entries I found a few weeks ago (with translations). Michael is the "sound-spelling" champion of his Kindergarten class. I think it's pretty great for a 5 year old.
school, church, moms and dads, food, houses, cars, boats [this is a genetic trait inherited from Dave], presidents, trains, rules at school, paper.
I love the last one. Paper. To a child who writes and draws incessantly it's as important as the president. Now we've got to work on that boat. . . And what inspires a kid to wake up and start writing about all the things that are important to them?
smoothies, rocket, kite, robot, plane, ice cream, ships.
He's also not too shabby with the Mother's Day card, which I had to pretend [lie] that I did not accidently find 2 days earlier while putting away Dave's socks.

That is the sweetest little boy. You've done an amazing job helping him learn to love writing. I'd love to be able to help George be more excited about it.
That is too funny. I am glad you made the list!
