the only fair I've ever seen

We took a little trek to the Sonoma County Fair, or as I like to call it, a huge public service message for why you should stay in school. I walked around marveling at the riffraff mostly.

We went to see the xGames motorcross extreme jumping, which was quite entertaining. It might have been more entertaining had I looked down at the tickets and noticed it started at 7:00, not 8:00.

We had a great time at the petting zoo, which had wallabies and deer. Have you ever seen deer at a petting zoo? The deer (not pictured) decided to eat the strings on my skirt, about 10 inches of them, which I then had to slowly pull out of its esophagus. Enjoy the photo.

I am reminded, however, of one of my mom's most quotable quotes, always said in response to one of us whining, "It's not fair."

"In this life, the only fair I've ever seen is where they give prizes for livestock."

Here, here.

What a fun outing. I bet the boys were in heaven. How did you get out of the "can we get a baby goat as a pet" question?
