Do you hey-do?

This is a hey-do.

Blake is demonstrating proper technique, since he is the originator of this term. A "hey-do" is being held by mom or dad, wrapped around them as their arms bear the brunt of the weight. A "hey-do" is also guaranteed to put a smile on your face, as Blake demonstrates in the next picture. As Blake has gotten bigger, we have tried to shift this to a "hip-do" on the side, but it doesn't garner near as stunning "happify-ing" results.

We think the word might be a 1-year-old's derivation of "Do you want me to hold you?" But nonetheless, it has been canonized in Moeller verbiage; in fact, it was one of Ellie's first words.

Blake is over 4 and he still asks for hey-dos. Hey-dos are always requested as a need instead of a want: "Mom, I need a hey-do."  We've been trying to wean him off of them as he's gotten bigger, but lately we've discovered that he can do a "handsfree hey-do," where he holds himself up entirely with his arms around our necks and legs around our body with no help from us whatsoever.

Blake promised to give me hey-dos when I am too old and he is a "great great big man".

Don't wean him! It is too precious!

Dave looks like he's straining a little, maybe a bead of sweat forming. Sup, time to hit the weights again.
